When I first heard about Pok Pok in Portland, I wasn’t sure what to expect. After all, street food elevated to a gourmet experience? It sounded intriguing, but I was curious to see if it could live up to the hype. Well, after my first visit, I can confidently say that Pok Pok completely blew me away.

The restaurant has an unassuming charm, with its cozy, relaxed vibe and minimalistic décor. There’s no pretense here, just a genuine love for incredible flavors. I sat down with a cold Thai iced tea, feeling excited to dive into a menu full of bold flavors and fresh ingredients.
I started with the Ike’s Vietnamese Fish Sauce Wings, and honestly, they were the highlight of the meal. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and drenched in the perfect balance of sweet and savory sauce—they were absolutely addictive. I couldn’t stop raving about them to my tablemates.

For the main dish, I opted for the Khao Soi, a Northern Thai curry noodle soup. The rich coconut broth, paired with perfectly cooked noodles and tender chicken, was comforting and flavorful in a way that reminded me of the best street food I’d had in Thailand—only this time, it was prepared with the finesse of a gourmet kitchen.
What truly sets Pok Pok apart is how it effortlessly blends the bold, flavorful essence of street food with the finesse and presentation of fine dining. The service was also top-notch, with the staff taking the time to explain each dish’s origin and ingredients.

Every bite at Pok Pok felt like a discovery—each dish was a testament to the power of good ingredients, bold flavors, and a kitchen that truly respects its cultural roots. I’ll definitely be back to experience more of the magic this place has to offer.
